National Stud Farms

Set up under Colbert in 1665, the national Stud Farms are in charge of the developing horse breeds. Studding places, they are the farms accommodating the agreed stallions, who are leading sires. Unlike the many private stud farms, the national stud farms fall under the French civil service.
